DiscoverCandied Clementines: A Sweet and Delicate Treasure
Imagine biting into a piece of sunshine, an explosion of sunny flavors that instantly transports you to the coasts of Provence. This is the unique experience offered by candied clementines, a true gourmet treasure born from ancestral know-how.
Where do candied fruits come from? They have been around for centuries. In those days, fruits were soaked in honey to preserve them longer. During the Middle Ages, techniques evolved, and candied fruits gained popularity. The Crusades brought fruits from new horizons, introducing new flavors. By the 16th century, candied fruits became exceptional products often presented on noble tables. Provence became a cradle of production for candied fruits, particularly candied clementines. The city of Apt, in particular, established itself as the capital of candied fruits thanks to King Louis XIV, who greatly appreciated the quality of Provençal candied fruits.
The Delicious Candied Clementines: A Sweet Delight by Florian
Fragrant and tender, our candied clementines are among the culinary treasures of the Côte d'Azur. A century-old establishment, the Florian confectionery has been crafting its artisanal recipes with passion and expertise since 1921. Our candied clementines are coated with a fine layer of sugar that protects and retains all the juice within the fruit.
Why Are They So Popular?
Our candied clementines have a unique and gourmet flavor. The contrast between the sweetness of the syrup and the acidity of the clementine creates an irresistible taste balance. Their success is, of course, based on the quality of the ingredients used and our ancestral know-how, which guarantees an authentic taste and a tender texture. For us, they are little jewels that we proudly present in our manufacturing workshops open to the public in Nice or Pont du Loup. After their final sugar bath, they dry on iron racks and are then carefully packaged one by one.
Presentation Options:
To offer them as gifts, they are presented in wooden boxes decorated with scenes from the major cities of the Côte d'Azur, such as Cannes, Nice, or Grasse. With our "gift" option, you can personalize your order by adding a card and gift wrapping. A nostalgic décor that recalls the confectionery boxes of yesteryear. The décor was created by an artist enamored with the landscapes of our South. It's a piece of our heritage that we also transmit through these unique and original presentations. Our customers love them and often reuse them to store tea bags or local treats.
For personal consumption or use in baking, we present them in airtight boxes for optimal preservation. They are also available in assorted candied fruit selections.
How to Use Candied Clementines
They add a touch of originality to panettones, brioches, king cakes, charlottes, or pavlovas.
They are also delicious halved on vanilla ice cream. You can find more original recipe ideas on our blog.
A staple during the Christmas season, candied clementines elegantly grace your tables and add originality to the famous thirteen desserts.
How to store your candied clementines? They do not like the refrigerator and will retain all their flavor in an airtight container. Store them in a dry place, away from light and heat.
If you are visiting the Alpes-Maritimes, you can discover the glazing of clementines in our workshops. The artisanal gesture has been performed for several generations, always with the same commitment to exceptional taste experience.
