Nice’s ultimate gourmet sweet shop

Our Nice location looks out onto the famed Lympia port, just steps from Garibaldi’s birthplace and at the base of the lofty green perch of the Château de Nice.

It opened in 1974 after the purchase of the former Florian chocolate factory in Nice, a 19th-century establishment that boasted Matisse as a regular customer. In those days, the port was frequented by boats from Africa unloading precious cocoa beans that, later, perfumed the surrounding streets at roasting time.

The Confiserie Florian du Vieux Nice, renovated in 1994, is the city showcase of the parent company at Le Pont du Loup. The two sites have the same spirit, flavors, and specialties. Here, you’ll find candied clementines from Vence and the Florian range of candied fruit – candied apricots, angelica, pineapple, cherries, peaches, pears, plums, and melon – alongside crystallized flowers, chocolate-covered orange peel, cocoa-powdered almonds, flower jams, citrus marmalades...

This bright, airy, modern store holds free tastings and leads visitors on tours that follow the various manufacturing stages for our sweet specialties.

In the chocolate workshop, we make the fillings for our homemade chocolates (pralines, marzipan, feuilletines) before coating them with a thin layer of dark chocolate.

In the second workshop, we glaze our candied clementines.

And, in the last workshop, we make our hard candies.

At harbor’s edge, in its resplendent sunshine-yellow and ocher décor, Confiserie Florian has become Nice’s ultimate sweet shop.

Getting to Confiserie Florian in Nice Old Town

When heading east along the coast, then north into Nice on the road to Monaco, Confiserie Florian is on the Port of Nice, 200 meters on the left after the war memorial.

From here in the antique district, you can easily reach nearby sites, like the famed Château d’Eau area, the Cour Saleyas with its dazzling flower market, the Place Masséna, and the beaches.

Park for free on the port with your purchase of €15 or more at our boutique when you present your parking entrance ticket for validation.

The mountains, the river, the neighboring hills of Tourrettes and Bar-sur-Loup, the perched village of Gourdon, fresh air, cool breezes, the perfumes of Grasse...the Confiserie Florian in the Gorges du Loup is in a unique setting and climate, a high country of mild Mediterranean winters and glorious summers, so rural in ambiance that it feels like a confectionery in the country.

Five gourmet workshops

At the foot of the viaduct, away from the river’s roar and the traffic noise from the road linking Tourettes to Bar-sur-Loup, sits a family home with grand rooms and Provencal period furniture from the 18th and 19th centuries, alongside candy-making facilities, where the best fruit and the most beautiful flowers of the French Riviera are transformed into delectable treats: clementines and tangerines from Vallauris, Menton lemons, bitter and bergamot oranges from Nice, roses, jasmine, and violets from the Grasse region...

Crystallized flowers are made in the first workshop. Those with a sweet tooth eat them straight from the bag, while others use them as inspiration calls, decorating ice cream, mousses, or pastries.
The second workshop, where each operation requires patience and precision, is where we glaze our candied fruit and make our jams.
The third workshop is the candy kingdom, where hard candies are made, a sweet spectacle that brings an excited sparkle to the eyes of children visiting the Confiserie.
Next comes the chocolate factory, where candied orange and lemon peels are dipped by hand, one by one, into delicious dark, white, or milk chocolate with crushed hazelnuts.
In the last room, our products are packed into handmade Provencal baskets, for our candied fruits, or small bags for our crystallized flowers, coffee beans, Provencal almonds, or chewy caramels in four scrumptious flavors...
